Not feeling like quoting right now.
Are you sure he finds his peace with another woman?
I did not base the pros of his success on the ending ENTIRELY.
I based his success off of the LAST CONVERSATION with his PRIEST.
He bared his LIFE to the PRIEST.
Edit: the deepest thing he did was not take the faith of the priest so seriously. He realized that his salvation was in his own hands. That is how he found inner peace. His identity is religious. Keep that in mind.
Something like this :
'What, still 10 hail marys ? But I did everything good this week, and you give me the same treatment as before ?'
Well, I see your point.
However, what is the most common thing people do when they lose something they identify with ? Replace it with another. Hence why I still think, when the movie ends, he's a symp to the woman, because he has found peace / love / a way to lose himself WITH her now (as opposed to watching porn and confessing with the priest at the end of the week).
Maybe that's my misinterpretation or projections. In that case. Forget about my false arguments. But I still won't watch it another time. The movie was not that good.
