I've been searching, reading, and watching all over the place for all these books to help me be ME/Authentic/Real Motha Fucka! And, with persistence and your insightful help I've realized and understand now what it means when some real mother fuckers say: You have all the answers within you.

What I've realized was I just wasn't ready to take the trip into the depths. I kept myself busy with tv, shows, friends, girls, sex, drugs, and much more to not feel the empty feeling when everything goes quite. I've come to a point where I'm done taking the easy way out. I'm finally looking my demons in the eye.

I recently posted a few threads: "Love thyself like no other" (http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2030) and "Books on being Optimistic (http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... =22&t=2031).

I wrote these still in the delusion that something in these books would help me. However, it was time for me to become a man, and face that which many men runaway from...ourselves!

Morpheus wrote in another post:
"Yep you have the answers you are only getting in your own way".

This resonated enough and fueled my fire to go forward.

Well, right now at this moment in time am at a place I've never visited before. I'm going deep into why I do what I do. My thoughts. My actions. My beliefs and what not.

I'm so eager to keep going deeper and deeper that right now I don't feel like hanging out with friends, going out on this friday night and partying. I just want to be alone. That scares me a little that I choose to be alone tonight rather than go out. I'm not the most social person at the moment, as I am more focused on myself and my habitual thoughts and beliefs.

Right now, I'd rather be by myself and keep finding what comes up. I'll watch the occasional Netflix Survivor Man or play some video games, but after my little break I go back to opening myself up.

Am I going at this in an unhealthy way?

Should I balance it out and go hangout with friends and party a little even though I don't feel like it at the moment?

There is a reason that throughout history people have talked many times about men and their caves.

I love this metaphor! My cave is warm tonight...I shall stay in tonight.

Knowing yourself isn't all that important to understand people, but knowing yourself is essential to knowing how to treat people you understand and get what you want.

@rkd

If you refer to the dynamics they play, then it's fair enough, just a sense social of awareness is sufficient to predict their actions to a certain level.

So knowing the person You are is first priority, at least in my point of view. I'm no different than the "people" out there, we are the same, the only difference is one of perspective of life and mindset, and this is only achieved through knowing or unknowing parts myself...

You said it isn't too important to know yourself in order to know people, but to what degree? to anticipate a behavior? or to read their feelings? or what? knowing them, how? How isn't important knowing myself to understand people?

Just a little quote:
Quote:
“We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.”
-Anais Nin,
And then you said: Is essential to knowing yourself to knowing how treat people you understand.
Understand how?
And if you understand them why is important to know yourself? Isn't understanding enough?

Since I've really been real with myself the past couples of days and decided to go my own way I've had some uncomfortable/bad/nightmarish dreams the past couple of nights. I think this is happening because of deep searching, and my subconscious is acting up. And possibly I'm shedding off old shit.

What do you guys think?

I haven't just been on this spiritual journey for a for weeks dude. I've been on this path since I was fifteen or sixteen (mostly educating myself with books). Only till recently has it gone deeper. And, I was writing this to myself I wasn't sure if it got more potent/deeper, because I took it more seriously or, because I was ready for it.

Well, one of my dreams which was a few nights ago had to do with me nearly dying it what I think to be a car crash. But what was most vivid to me was looking down at my body and seeing my body beat up and bloody. I remember two people beside me helping, and my thoughts where I was going to die (But I know you can't die in your dreams :) ) It was gory dream though: big gashes in my body; bones protruding. I also remember my teeth where falling out, but that wasn't the first time I dreamed that. It was nuts!

I still stand by what I said, I've been on this path for nearly a decade now and the journey has only just begun.

You said it isn't too important to know yourself in order to know people, but to what degree?
You can know how people work intimately (completely) without knowing yourself.

1. Yes to anticipate behavior that comes from peeping game and observation.
2. Yes to read their feelings. Every person is built with instincts to understand emotions. You just have to peep shit more. This is why women are better manipulators than men.
3. It isn't important to know yourself to understand people because of my second response. Women are prime examples of people not knowing their self while understanding people to a high degree.

-Anais Nin,
That quote just means we put filters on everything. I also think that quote is not accurate. I believe that we see things as we want them to be.

Understand how?
And if you understand them why is important to know yourself? Isn't understanding enough?
1. See the earlier response. Emotional understanding and social understanding.

2. Understanding a person is not enough to interact with the person. For example, you can understand what the color "red" is, but you if you don't know that you like the color "red" you will not interact with the color "red" in the way that you want to. So, understanding yourself is important to knowing how to treat people that you understand.

“Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.”
-Sun Tzu The Art of War

I respect that.
