Why does it seem that this doesn't work the opposite way?

Like if we resist good things they persist and if we hang on to bad things the slip away? Or does it and im just thinking incorrectly?
No you got it wrong.

You can't resist good things you just have to let go of the attachment to them. No one wants to resist good things (he would be lying if he said he did). You are also not supposed to 'not enjoy good things'. The attachment is the problem because it creates suffering (not the fact that you want to enjoy good things)....

You are not supposed to hang on to the bad stuff either, that would be torture.

What about in the case of self sabotage? If someone is consciously or subconsciously running from something they know they want to enjoy does it mean they are attached to it or is this resistance?

Can attachment be the cause this kind of resistance?

what is it that you are running from and want to enjoy?

not all the things we want to enjoy are necessarily good for us

Attachment and resistance are two sides of the same coin.

Holy shit the excercise from the original thread works.
I just got "energy movement" in around my stomach from feeling negative/positive variations of the problem. Wow

Honestly, Im running from doing what i need to do to be what i want to be. Thats it. I could go into detail but its unnecessary. It has to do with work, women, goals and all that shit. Its funny tho because its all i think about constantly.

Yeah, this is a paradigm that I was keeping myself in for a good while as well. Thoughts are just thoughts though, I can think about doing almost anything but it literally leads nowhere. Good that you've realized it and now all you need to do is walk the walk.

Look inside why are you running away?

It could be fear of failing or it could be even fear of success

We have an attachment and aversion to everything (As Lester talked about)

Larry is tough, he goes very strictly with what Lester Levenson taught
I wanted to bump this thread just to say that Larry is not going very strictly with what Lester Levenson taught.
Larry has his own twist on how it should be

for example:

Lester never taught the rig\tube thing. If it works for some people then great but for me personally not so much....

I had some great success with releasing and then tons of resistance (very painful...) :|

It all changed after I found Ralph Zeitlin's calls on Hootless.com. Ralph was an original student of Lester and was around before "The Method" \ "The 6 Steps" was created. He really has a true grasp of keeping it simple (KISS - Keep It Simple Sweet-heart).

Forget the rig and the tube. Forget letting go of disapproving of yourself a billion times. Forget saying "and more and more and more" until you're about to smash your skull. Just stick to the 6 steps and the TICKET TO IMPERTURBABILITY 8-)

The 6 steps:

1. You must want Freedom (Imperturbability) more than you want approval, control and security.

2. Decide that you can release and be Free.

3. See that all your feelings culminate in three wants – the want of approval, the want of control and the want of security. See that immediately and immediately let go of the want of approval, the want to control and the want of security.

4. Make it constant.
Release all your wanting approval, wanting to control and wanting security when alone or with people.

5. If you are stuck, let go of wanting to control the stuckness.

6. Each time you release, you are freer, happier and lighter. If you release continually, you will continually be freer, happier and lighter.

*When Lester saw that things were getting complicated he wrote*:

YOUR TICKET TO IMPERTURBABILITY

Carry out these three things and you will quickly Reach Imperturbability:

1. Release only the three wants.

2. Make it continuous and release immediately.
Allow the wanting approval, wanting to
control and wanting security to come into your
awareness and immediately let it go.

3. Make it a Do It Yourself Tool.

You now have all you need to go all the way to Imperturbability.

-- Everything else is just stuff that Larry and Hale added of how they saw it
