Post subject:  Improving my life

I'm home for the summer, now single, and have few friends in the area. I only have one that I actually kept contact with and I'm not too interested in meeting the others. I don't have a license and am mostly stuck at my house in the woods. I really miss college and meeting people. My college friends live far away. Messaging people on fb does very little for me.

What are some good ways to meet new people in the area? 20yrs old; no bars.

I don't have any summer plans other than studying for my second actuarial exam, but that still leaves me with a lot of free time. I didn't feel the need to get my license before, but I am getting so bored I really want to, even if I won't use it outside school breaks.

I'm having a difficult time getting a minimum wage job in the area. Need it now to fix the above situation. I haven't worked in a while and have like once reference left, as I didn't keep contact with anybody. I'm not sure how I can make my application stand out. I'm just a college student looking for some money. I've called a bunch of places to follow up, but to no avail.

At least, I have my own gym in the basement so I can continue to workout, and have a decent area for walking/running.

keep trying something will come....sometimes it's hard to get a job even for min. wage. Even if you live in a big city.....
I know that from experience

good, also spend time reading books or other things on the internet that could help you. I always like to expand my knowledge. When I was unemployed I read a lot and took a course on the internet about graphic design (because it's something I love....). Whatever you love do it!!

Same position man. Buckle down on your goals and wait it out for school to start again.

As long as your reasonably social once you get a job you can make connections through there.

Those friends you're not interested in have friends as well, friends that you could be interested in, also possible job connections.

Resourcefulness is the keyword here.

Playing sports is a good way to meet people. Look around, you'll probably find something interesting.

Can't recommend this highly enough. If you manage to find an open 11 on 11 pickup soccer game, don't hesitate to join that.
