Elliot Roger, a 22 year old student attending city college at Santa Barbara, gunned down 7 young adults while driving around Isla Vista in his Black BMW at 9:30 pm on May 23, 2014.

This guy was narcissistic and he was pissed off at the world because girls "hate" him. In his video, he explains how he is targeting the "hot blonde sorority girls", the "popular people" as he puts it. He doesn't understand how "obnoxious slobs" can get these gorgeous girls, while he gets no attention from them.

On a personal note:

I live in Isla Vista. I attend UC Santa Barbara. All of my friends live in this beautiful college town. Those "hot blonde sorority girls" he talks about? Those are the people I know and see on a regular basis. They are my friends...I can understand why they didn't associate with this guy.

Imagine how different this could have been if this guy had found this forum and embraced it. He truly did rot from the inside out. He blames loneliness...I blame his self-loathing.

By the way, this is what disillusionment looks like.

Discuss...

They owed him nothing.

This is the thing he didn't wanted to understand, because of his grandiose ego and his mentioned ultra narcisitic tendencies.

It's sad for both parts. He didn't have the mental endurance to face reality and accepting his "relative condition".

His biggest illusion was that other people
are somehow happier and doing better
than he was.

Fully agree with this.

Another victim of our narcissistic culture obsessed with broadcasting identity, requiring not just external but visible to others validations of their worth. However, even if you combine it with sexual frustration, it is not enough to explain this freak. The problem goes deeper.

Dysfunctional families spur mental disorders. His father is an assistant director for The Hunger Games, his stepmother stars in the French version of The Real Housewives, loneliness was his main issue. Therefore, child neglect was a given, and frequent conflict probable, at least between his biological parents prior to their divorce.

Ultimately, he was responsible for his actions. However, family members, “friends” and doctors must also accept responsibility for the role they played in his destruction.

"Me and my friends tried to help him," said Chan. "He doesn't like to talk or hang out."
