I came across this story while listening to some of Pat Cooper's bits on radio promoting his book :
http://www.amazon.com/Pat-Cooper-How-Da ... _pr_sims_t

I read the reviews and there was HIS son (LF) calling him off (http://www.amazon.com/Pat-Cooper-How-Da ... ewpoints=0 ) on his 'false autobiography', claiming his EGO, ...
while promoting his own book claiming the truth (his point of view) : http://www.amazon.com/Dear-Pat-Cooper-h ... 343&sr=1-1.

What I found along the way :

Youtube playlist : http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB574F5E52C371423

Youtube (some comments are outrageous) :

Pat Cooper vs family on radio (1989) : 4 parts :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp5uUMJldBo 8 min
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djfpMQ4XfpU 10 min
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=palkwrAVDi8 10 min
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJT4wyn1_3A 7 min

Pat Cooper vs son on TV (1990) : 2 parts :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNPKzuGOaJ8 8 min
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKoO8vTi2AE 5 min

My personal opinion is clearly shown in the title of the thread.
Pat is A MAN.

When you fall in love with your loneliness, you’ll never be lonely. It’s better than fucking a broad. Cuz, you know you’re always gonna see you and you depend on you. I sit by the TV. I got 3 televisions in case anything breaks. I had it all. I did it all. Had great fucking pussy in my career. I fucked it and sucked every fucking thing in my career. I had great fucking shit. It’s almost over but, it’s okay; Because, I’ve already had it…”

This hits home.

I was in his son's place but I made peace with it.

The mother will usually speak ill of the father in a broken relationship and try to get the kid(s) on her side and orchestrate a perpetual pity party.

How ironic it is that all the emotions you felt for your father were only those of your mother, projected on you, because she couldn't handle a MAN (I'm assuming he was/is one if it's the same situation)

Not all I would say, I had my own issues with him but she did have some influence over it.

When I look back at his marriage with my mom, some of the rebuttals he had for her complaints were actually correct, it was her choice to stay with him and she could've left any time (makes sense logically right?).

From the sound of his voice he's happier with his 2nd wife but number 2's kids of her own and he's taking care of them so imo he kinda went backwards.

I may never get to see him again but if I do I'd actually have a real conversation with him and understand where he's coming from and hear his side of the story, which he does not really get into.

All the shit my parents did in the past, that's where it stays, I just don't see the point in staying pissed at them for fucking up. They complimented each other in the sense that they have a machiavellian quality about them, but my dad got the better luck. Their shitty marriage was a blessing in disguise, if it wasn't for that I may have been open to the idea of putting an expensive ring on someone's finger and signing the slave contract.

I might be wrong, but I believe noone on this forum have parents happily 'in love' / still together (with good role models), otherwise we wouldn't be there.

The lesson is that you rised through the ashes and stopped blaming things on them, UNLIKE his son, who is MAKING money on his sappy story on how he could not have grown to be a man, and blaming it on his father.
More power to you 8-)
