Sometimes and in some cases it is needed.... however, I do wonder why in the wetsern sociaty doctors are putting people on drugs so easily and quickly. In general a lot of people in the western sociaty are suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, depression and etc...and the number keep getting higher every year. I think that the problem is with the pressure that the western capitalistic sociaty puts on people. People are not supposed to live under such pressure. The technology is great but it was supposed to make people's lives easier and instead: sociaty puts people under more stress now than ever. Just some random thoughts.... |

The bigger problem is that people do not have the self accountability to acknowledge their faults/problems...nor do they posses the self discipline to do anything about it with any kind of consistency.  No...they'd rather be prescribed blue pills and eat steak all fucking day.

The bigger problem is that people do not have the self accountability to acknowledge their faults/problems...nor do they posses the self discipline to do anything about it with any kind of consistency.
yes there is something to this... No...they'd rather be prescribed blue pills and eat steak all fucking day. I mean taking a pill is easy while doing inner work is tough....and a lot of people want to take the easy way out... |

I have to disagree in this thread. 1 in 3 Americans have some sort of cognitive problem 1 in 6 Americans have a debilitating cognitive problem Society has always had people who were psychologically disturbed. We used to call these people witches, devils, and eccentrics. In fact, in Britain during the 19th century schizophrenics were common and considered a healthy part of society. Some of the schizophrenics were renowned artists in their time. The resurgence of mental illness is exacerbated by alcohol and drugs. There is a good reason why nearly 1 in 3 Americans have tried weed and nearly 1 in 2 Americans have used some sort drug whether alcohol or otherwise. |

Its thanks to medication that I can lead a normal life, but I get what you're saying there are certain cases where kids as young as 8 are prescribed prozak for depression and I'm not entirely sold on the whole "ADD/ADHD thing but then again the people suffering from it know better than I do. Its like learning that your friend has depression and coming out with something as stupid as "You just need to cheer the fuck up" |
