this is intresting so I thought I would share:

Just a thought:

People often conclude that status attracts the opposite sex. That powerful people have it easy when it comes to their sexlife.

But isn't it the other way around? Aren't these people powerful because of their character? Haven't they acquired their status by being passionate and persistent? Isn't that what makes them successful, also with their sex-life?

Yes and no. No because you can have great character and still only be granted low status in society. Yes because passion and persistence generally play a major part for anyone who earns their success. Usually the powerful, very high status males are high status not because of their spectacular character, but because they were ruthlessly ambitious and have a hundred times the drive of the average guy.

You might say that it makes them "successful" with their sex life, but it's really more accurate to say that their status reaches a point where they are almost bombarded with sexual opportunities. Women come out of the woodwork and throw themselves at some of these ultra high status men. When your status is really high, it's like a fucking magnet for women - they'll detect your "status rays" from a mile away, and move closer, and closer, and closer...This is a major reason why the more successful men become, the higher the likelihood of infidelity.

Status is a bizarre thing to wrap your head around. Mostly because it is context dependent. A club DJ has very high status in the club he's dj'ing in, but if we were to take that DJ and drop him in a room where no one knew him, it's a very different story. Put him in a room full of wealthy CEO's and his status takes another hit. It depends on the context for the most part.

Natural selection.
