Natural Freedom

I went to a short concert today at school and this girl who came for Open Day eyed me a couple times when I was talking to my friend, I didn't get much of a read on this cuz there was nothing else there, so later on we get on the same bus, there's plenty of free seats in the back and she stops and stands next to me, looks toward the seats for barely a second then looks at me and sits next to me.

So I figure this is a sign and I make conversation, she was nice but she wouldn't really talk unless I asked questions, so after a couple questions I dropped it and didn't say anything else.

This doesn't bother me but I am curious why would a girl throw signals out and then not make an effort to engage? or did I read that shit wrong?.

She knew she was sitting next to you, specifically. You even point this out.

When you did engage her she spoke to you. (when you asked questions)

She had stepped forward and was looking to you to lead. When left to her own devices she was not sure what to say so clammed up.

How many guys have I seen post situations like this in reverse - A LOT. Why did they post it?

A couple things spring to mind....

I figure since she comes from a small town she may be old fashioned so she may have been expecting more from me, but her behavior led me to think she wasn't really feeling it, hence my confusion.

Or maybe she thought since I'm a good looking dude that she expected me to flirt with her and things would just take off from there.

Am I close?.

I don't feel bad about it, I just haven't experienced that before wih a chick appearing interested then goin dead like that, it was just weird.
