How can I quote a post & author within the forum?
Hitting 'quote' button on one of the posts gives the above and below.
[quote=Hineini post_id=48577 time=1618718715 user_id=16678]
the user_id is required to link to them methinks, which can be got by quote button, then the rest of the quote vars edited/removed before post.
eg.
[quote=Hineini user_id=16678]
quoting a user with link
-
[quote='Hineini' url='http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopic.php?p=48577#p48577']
quoting a post with link
[quote='Forum Tip - Adding links in quote title' url='http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopic.php?p=48577#p48577']
quoting a post with link
The little square just before 'Posted: date' on top of each post will give a link to the specific post within a topic/thread, for linking.
[Edit]
The way I usually do it, when quoting multiple posts - have one window/tab open for making your post..
use another window/tab to browse the forum for the post you want to quote, when found it, hit the 'quote' button.. This gives you the entire snippet in a new edit window.. Just copy/paste that into your post. Then you can hit back in the second tab (browse) to go back to forum and continue looking etc.
When finished assembling your post, preview then submit when happy.
(doing it this way keeps the user id, post id, timestamp etc all done for you)
Regarding Jared's post below.. you can test/experiment by replying to a post and instead of hitting 'submit' hit 'preview' to view the results of your edits repeatedly without actually posting the messages. Until you hit submit it wont actually post anything.
