Ok, "let it go" is a statement that's thrown around this forum quite often, AND WITH GOOD REASON. I've learned fuckloads from 'Grinus and Kidd!!, as well as others around here like Scarf, Star, Altair, Prodigy (now Kai? - can't keep up with you guys these days  ), but NOTHING has made a bigger & more positive difference to my life, the way I interact with others (and the way they interact with me), than 'letting go', and i've only just begun......

Now, there is a LOT of information on this forum re: letting go, releasing, and befriending your demons, and the standard MO around here is to help yourself - read the shit, and do the fucking work, and with good reason. But there's a lot of good info on this topic scattered around in the most unlikely threads, and there is a LOT of shit on here to read. I believe anyone who's serious about their own self-development should read just about EVERYTHING on this forum, but letting go is so crucial that I thought it would be a good idea to have as much info on it in one place, so that newcomers who are interested in this can get started WITH GUSTO.

'Grinus & Kidd!!, if you feel that this post is spoon-feeding, feel free to delete it. However, I don't think it is - anyone 'letting go' will have to do all the heavy lifting anyway......

So I started this thread to compile what discussions were of most value to me on this topic. Bear in mind this is only regarding MY WAY of doing it, so if anyone has other (equally effective, and most importantly SINCERE, HONEST and THOROUGH) ways of doing this, feel free to add. And if anyone remembers even more illuminating threads than what i've posted here, go for it.

***************************************************************************************************
Basically, when I 'let go' of something that triggers me, I put aside 30 mins to an hour at home, and sit down on my couch. No special posture like lotus or whatever, I just make sure that my back, neck, and head are upright so I don't fall asleep. Then I close my eyes, try to feel the inside of my body, and once i'm comfortable with that, I remember the event that triggered me, and follow the sensations within my body. I don't take charge of them, tell them what to do, nothing like that - while i'm letting go, they're the fucking boss. I just let them do what they want, and I FOLLOW them while they rise & fall, change shape, move around my body, etc. I continue doing this as long as they're there, or until the 30 mins or hour is up. Sometimes this can be very painful (both physically & emotionally), so it takes courage.
***************************************************************************************************

So anyways, the threads; Unfortunately, there may be even better info in threads that I didn't bookmark for whatever reason. And i'm kinda pressed for time these days and didn't get to be as thorough as i'd like on this post. Also, i've kinda focused on Flow's posts, since he really elaborates quite well on the topic. But anyone who doesn't read the full thread and therefore gets an incomplete picture only has themselves to blame:

First, an admonition from Kidd!! from http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... 824#p16714 :
The Kidd!! wrote:

You'll have a lot of pride swallowing and personal demon meeting and greeting to do before you can even touch bases with your own psyche on a meaningful level. The sooner you get started, the sooner you finish. 8-)
http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... 213#p31531
A wonderful and succinct description of letting go/releasing by 'Grinus & Bonder from http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... =534#p4090 :

Experience it.
Feel it.
Bask in it, rather than resisting it.

Let it go.
A GP Walsh video ('Releasing - Common Misconceptions') posted by Flow that helped me keep in mind the correct attitude towards 'letting go': http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... 314#p21470 . Note carefully 'Grinus' comment below the video link.

http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... ious#p1743 - very fucking important. Read over and over and over.....

http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... 709#p22445
http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... 563#p35264
Meraki on 'squeezing the lemon':- http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... =20#p31329

http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... w=previous
http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... 330#p28380
http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... ous#p27878

Mention should be made of GP Walsh over at the 'Balls Project' (http://www.ballsproject.com/). I'm not a representative of his site and this isn't a marketing ploy - I just feel that I should mention, in the interest of full disclosure, that his course 'Just Allow It' (which was offered as part of the full subscription - I don't know if it still is - which I took full advantage of) introduced me to even deeper subtleties, a learning experience which is ongoing for me. However, I also wish to point out that what I learned on this forum already had me successfully 'letting go' of triggers long before I started doing GP's course. (I believe that my little bit of experience in 'Inner Body Awareness' from Eckhart Tolle's books 'The Power Of Now' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_Now and 'A New Earth' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_New_Earth helped me pick this up a little more quickly, but cannot say that it's a prerequisite.)

And ending it with a beautiful, beautiful quote by Kidd!! from http://www.naturalfreedom.info/viewtopi ... =924#p8105 :
The Kidd!! wrote:
When you finally stop resisting and accept your faults...they become faults no longer...they transform into unique strengths that can only be properly wielded by YOU. 8-)
Now while this isn't a farewell or anything, i'm basically about to start digging EVEN DEEPER into my own shit and getting even friendlier with my demons, and my 'external' life is probably about to get a lot busier too. So I may not be around regularly enough to respond to questions. But that's no problem - anyone interested in truly letting go should be reading the shit, then doing the work, not asking a bunch of questions :) . At most they should be reporting back with their experiences, and if i'm not here to comment, there are a LOT of other guys on here who seem to be starting to get this shit down. Not to mention the 2 sages........

Also, i'm not the biggest Peter Gabriel fan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Gabriel), but he's one songwriter whose stance on befriending your demons seems to gel with what we talk about here. So i'm posting this for anyone who appreciates the kind of music he does:
Quote:
"Darkness"

i'm scared of swimming in the sea
dark shapes moving under me
every fear i swallow makes me small
inconsequential things occur
alarms are triggered
memories stir

it's not the way it has to be

i'm afraid of what i do not know
i hate being undermined
i'm afraid i can be devil man
and i'm scared to be divine

don't mess with me my fuse is short
beneath this skin these fragments caught

when i allow it to be
there's no control over me
i have my fears
but they do not have me

walking through the undergrowth, to the house in the woods
the deeper I go, the darker it gets
i peer through the window
knock at the door
and the monster i was
so afraid of
lies curled up on the floor
is curled up on the floor just like a baby boy

i cry until i laugh

i'm afraid of being mothered
with my balls shut in the pen
i'm afraid of loving women
and i'm scared of loving men
flashbacks coming in every night
don't tell me everything's alright

when I allow it to be
it has no control over me
i own my fear
so it doesn't own me

walking through the undergrowth, to the house in the woods
the deeper i go, the darker it gets
i peer through the window
knock at the door
and the monster i was
so afraid of
lies curled up on the floor
is curled up on the floor just like a baby boy

i cry until i laugh

Something I should add about this:

I've recently started internally 'walking into the sensations' instead of following them. My consciousness kinda descends into them, until the sensations seem to be all around me, and i'm in the middle of the shitstorm. This seems to intensify it, which I think is a good thing.

But ultimately, anyone doing it seriously will probably find out what works best for them.

I remember a few years ago I had to go to the hospital ER. Now most people have elevated anxiety when they step into a hospital which is why blood pressure readings are always so fucking high when the nurse checks it.

So I go in and the nurse was super hot, hot enough to have mosy guys mumbling and shaking when trying to talk to her, like I use to be too. But because in my mind it was fine to be nervous because I was in the hospital and gave myself permission to be nervous, I had ZERO anxiety talking to her and we had a great chat.

awesome roark,

if some people still have problems with letting go, the resources I would recommend are:

JAI course by GP Walsh
or
The Sedona method
or
The Abundance course
or
KISS Releasing by Stephen Seretan
or
Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R. Hawkins

each book or audio program has a different style of teaching but they all have the same goal and lead to the same place.
It's a matter of what resonates with you better

The books\audio programs above ^^ are for people who need more 'structure' (like myself),
but for some people just by reading the recommended posts above (and doing the work) - that's all they will need...

New members it is. Stickiness applied.

Nice work roark... now why would you think I would remove this? (rhetorical)

As long as it's more readily available. I'm fine with it.

GP Walsh has done the entire world a fucking solid, and released a FREE ebook that shows how to get started on letting go. To me this is more like an introduction, so imo it DOES NOT make the threads pointed out above redundant in any way. But it's still really worthwhile to check out. Especially if you have never done anything like this before. It can be found (for now at least) at:

http://gpwalsh.com/negative-emotions-download/

[You may have to enter your email address to access it, i'm not sure.......]
