I happened upon this most excellent advice on Reddit, from a dude who goes by the name of 'TheHeartOfTuxes' and felt compelled to share; in it he writes about discovering one's own personal style, which is obviously different from arbitrarily following fashion.

Really cool advice man, thanks for sharing.
I've been wearing sweatpants and comfortable t-shirts anywhere I can (sometimes I can get away with it at work, I've yet to brave going to university not wearing at least jeans). Soo comfortable, I can't really be bothered to dress up for somebody else at the expense of my comfort.
What's weird about it is that in our culture, wearing sweatpants means you're either super poor or super rich. So if I go to a shopping mall wearing sweat pants, I get stares from everyone. It's really strange, especially when I compare it with the US, where people were far less judgemental.
