Brahmi or Bacopa monniera is a medicinal herb commonly seen in marshy areas in Asian countries such as India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan etc. Brahmi is known as an effective nerve tonic. Ayurvedic practitioners say that the herb provides a soothing effect to the mind and at the same time brightens up the brain cells by improving the blood circulation to the brain. This in turn helps improve one’s intelligence. The quality of the herb as a brain tonic is so renowned that in Kerala, parents give the paste of Brahmi leaves to children daily.
