Yeah when he beat that japanese captain is fucking epic.

I know for the purposes of marketing, this movie is exagerated in content, but Ipman was; and still is a legend in China.
And as strange note: The 'Wing Tsun' style was developed by a lady, talk about 'bodily fluent bitch'.

It was not developed by a Lady, it is descended from a lot of the southern Chinese martial arts (as opposed to the northern ones) - it also shares a lot of principles with the internal arts (Tai Chi, Xingi and Bagua). It was around for ages in various forms, it seems it was made semi formal and named once a certain lady utilised it, that may just be the historical record, there is a lot of variation in the stories surrounding it.

One thing is for sure, it works real well for women, so do other internal arts.

This is why it does not emphasise strength or speed or even technique.

It is all about feeling, sensing and getting there first even though you started second.

For partial history see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Chun
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Wing_Chun

It is no wonder Mr Lee went off in the direction he did if you think about it and understand the principles. It is a surprise more people did not also go off in other tangents.

It was not the same.

It did not follow the principles of Wing Chun in the fight scenes - fairly critical in my view.

It left me cold! I did not feel engaged or interested in how it turned out.
