The Apprentice: My Life in the Kitchen by Jacques Pepin
Quote:
In this captivating memoir, the man whom Julia Child has called "the best chef in America" tells the story of his rise from a frightened apprentice in an exacting Old World kitchen to an Emmy Award winning superstar who taught millions of Americans how to cook and shaped the nation's tastes in the bargain.

Really interesting book that talks about his experience working in the kitchen from a very young age. And how the world of cooking and chefs has changed over the decades. There's a lot of similarities with how cultures have changed and in some ways lost the things that taught the lessons to the older generations that I see the younger generations are having a hard time with or gaps in things.
