I wish I tried to emulate guys like this 15 years ago, instead of pick-up "artists"...
An example of two men behaving normally, without techniques or trying to look cool and be alpha™. I discovered Magnus just a couple of hours ago, watching his grip strength competition with Norway's strongest man. Same thing there, just two normal humble guys. They both wanted to win, but cheered each other on at the same time.
But yeah, I admire how they both handled Magnus' initial fear on this climb, and reassuring him along the way. He actually enjoyed the experience of facing that fear. Taking that plunge, and knowing you can't back out half-way through feels like a mature thing to be able to do. And he was still so grateful to Alex, at the same time.
Comparing this to how PUAs behave when taking novices out to approach women, I'm a bit saddened. Does scamming someone really feel better than the feeling you get when you've actually guided someone through something really hard and seeing them succeed?
I didn't enjoy how they talked about finally feeling all safe and comfortable, and then switched to shaky go-pro footage and added scary sounds immediately after
