You're welcome to add others, and movies, books ...

That and MUCH MUCH MORE!

Observation is a key skill. It exists on many many levels, to such depth you can hardly imagine.

As I keep saying - The rabbit hole goes very deep.

Got any other good animes like that Kidd!!?
Only other one I can think of that is that diabolical and dark is Akagi. It's based in underworld gambling (namely Mahjong), but don't let that fool you. Shit is engrossing as FUCK. :geek:

It's on Crunchy Roll. 8-)
Akagi is a brilliant anime. Will read the manga after I finish Kaiji S02... to see the following

Kaiji is from the same author and is as mature audience oriented (on various gambling, not Mahjong). VERY GOOD ANIME

One Outs IS THE SHIT TOO !!! It's about baseball, and it's the same kind as Death Note and Akagi foresight and manipulation wise ...

Next watches for me (apparently related) : Code Geass 1-2, Spiral, Ergo Proxy, Mirai Nikki, Liar Game

Liar game (for Kidd  ) :

Themes: conspiracy, Corporation, debt, Greed, intellectual genius, mind games, strategic minds, survival game
Edit : I encourage anyone who saw the Death Note movies to review it here too
@Jared, I'll watch the most I can of the 2 movies, will come review them ...

Finally found a copy.

It's only english subtitles, but still excellent and highly educational.

Great taste in watching material as always Kidd!! ;)

What is your analysis on the weakness of the Fake Akagi?

They say his calculation is simple and based on probability and it makes him shallow and weak. I agree but at the same time I don't.

There is a kind of recklessness about Akagi's actions. Waiting for improbable odds etc.

He makes advanced calculations but then, leaves parts to chance. On the other hand Mahjong is a pure zero sum game so it wouldn't matter over a large enough graph.

To put it into forum terms:

Fake Akagi uses logic of the game and logic of the game ALONE. :geek:

Real Akagi uses that, as well as obervation/analyzation of his opponents character/nature, the environment and everyone/thing in it, and...most importantly, trusts his GUT IMPLICITLY. :ugeek:

What looks reckless to you is probably as bewildering as you look to other so called alphas when you have your game face on...see? ;)

What do you guys think about "Afro Samurai" ? Ninja Ninja is kind of like the ego, huh ? Ninja Ninja has a mind of his own. Does Afro listens to it ? Hell no! Will he ever get rid of Ninja Ninja ? Hell no ! Does he care what NN says to him, even if it's good stuff ? Nope ! He just wants that damn Number 1 Headband ! Period !

I enjoyed ergo Proxy and code geass and will check out some of these after golgo 13. My two favorite manga are Blame! and Blade of the Immortal and I would recommend both but there isn't much in the way of mind battles just that dark bleakness and realness some of these others share. Also the art for both is stunning. For anime the only thing I have seen recently which I would recommend is the monogatari series. I love the dialogue and themes but it can be too cute and echii sometimes.

Akagi's Best moments are at the times when the "motions" get pretty high. I mean, he plays when his life gets down to the line.

think back to his initial entrance ;)

I havn't seen the conclusion to the ones where he plays with his blood. but they are my favourite matches, thus far.

I like the way he consciously show weakness to pull his opponents own out . and then he STRIKES! like a snake

Sanctuary...one of my top 3 favorites.
A story about Japanese Gangsters and Political affiliations.
http://www.mangapanda.com/sanctuary
Quote:
Two young men vow to transform the destiny of Japan, by any means. As children, they survived the horrors of the Cambodian killing fields together. Now, can they topple the leaders of both the Japanese Parliament and the yakuza crime syndicate? Although cold and calculating when need be, Hojo and Asami exemplify the traits their colleagues lack: loyalty to friends, compassion for the downtroden...and an irresistible way with women. Deputy Police Chief Ishihara sets out to expose their ingenious machinations, but instead falls helplessly in love with Hojo...
The Animated Version...sadly only to part one of the Manga.
