http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107048/ this is a great movie. Not only is it a great comedy it has a message in regards to what we are talking about here... I won't say all the plot (not to ruin...) but in general: Bill Murray plays Phil Connors, an egocentric Pittsburgh TV weatherman who, during a hated assignment covering the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney finds himself repeating the same day over and over again. His main goal was to get Rita (Andie MacDowell) but after not getting success in doing it and since he is repeating the same day over and over again: he decides to do things which will make him the best man he can be, such as: be nicer to people, learns to play the piano, studies French. When he invests the time in himself to be the best man he can be- he finally finds life exciting and he becomes a happy person. See the movie- it's great. @Kidd it really goes hand in hand with your message and you should see it. And if you do coaching to guys you should tell them to watch this movie. other guys on the forum: if you haven't seen it you should.... |

One of the favorites. Although it was a one day transformation, it kinda wasn´t a one day transformation for him. |

Great movie. Funny as well. Oddly I have met quite a number of people who have watched this without `getting it`. Quite how amazes me. |

Groundhog day is a great watch. I've seen it over 10 times. When I was younger, I always thought it cool how he just had the time to get into everything, and he didn't age at all. Part of the awesome part of the message is how he just starts moving through the world avoiding things that can interfere with his mood. The way he just capitalizes on opportunity is phenomenal. This is a must watch and re-watch. |

I'll up this thread to put the explanation of 'Women a Textbook for Men' (ch4). Two birds in one stone.
Remember the movie Groundhog Day? [...] Bill Murray’s character is someone with a lot
of natural abilities that haven’t been developed, so he has an inferiority complex and tries to assert himself at the expense of others. When, as part of the movie’s central premise, he gets a new level of freedom, the first thing he does is overcome various social taboos. He tries to get laid and become self-actualized, but it’s only after he’s liquidated his emotional and spiritual immaturity that he becomes a truly worthy individual. By the way, the love interest’s female instincts are depicted very accurately. No matter how hard Phil tries to please her, no matter how much he betters himself, no matter how hard he tries to win her over, she refuses him sexually up until the moment when her female instinct vaguely reacts to his popularity as a sign of his high rank. |

Oh look, it's so close to February 2nd I found the DvD I wanted w/ 10 languages (subtitles.) (vs an old VHS w/1 language) 7,95€ + Audio commentary + Extras + Deleted Scenes Going to watch it 8 more times next month (minus Finnish and English subs) ----------
...various time duration assumptions and estimated that Phil spent a total of
12,395 days—just under 34 years—reliving Groundhog Day. |
