http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_%28board_game%29 Saw it on Criminal Minds, Mao supposedly required all of his generals to learn it. It is supposed to be much more strategic than chess in that chess is based on a series of clashes and Weiqi is based on being more fluid and not getting caught up in head butting. There is also supposed to be indepth psychological profiles based on your playing style. Haven't been able to find them though

The psychobabble just means your mentality. You can be an aggressive, centered, or passive player. All great players are aggressive. Go is a lot more difficult than chess. I made it to 1dan in one year of study. I left the game, and I fell 10 ranks in my playing ability. This doesn't happen in chess, and the knowledge you need to have to get better increases exponentially after 1 dan. Most people can even learn how to play better than 5 or 6dan. Professionals are way better than that level of play. |
