Alright so I know girls will show really obvious signs of interest and it's up to the guy to be aware of these signs. Will a large majority of girls expect you to make the first move? The way I see it is most girls are insecure anyway and if they were to go really direct it would give them a chance of being rejected. Instead they drop subtle hints so the guy comes over and they get to play it safe. Is it mostly a rare occurrence when a girl is really direct with you? Or is it just more bullshit from the social matrix saying that guys always have to approach and do the work. I figure if you give a girl enough space she's going to want to fill it by coming over to you.

Notice her signals and she what she does...she'll either indirectly do it or will directly make a move on you. If it's indirect, give it time and if she doesn't open up then take control and make it happen.

It is societally accepted and expected for men to make the move...however, there are exceptions to the depending on any number of variables...mainly her perception of your value vs your indifference, time/availability (i.e. what she feels are the chances of ever seeing you again), your overall front/clout vs what she values, etc.
