“The person of superior integrity
does not insist upon his integrity.
For this reason, he has integrity.
The person of inferior integrity
never loses sight of his integrity;
For this reason, he lacks integrity.”
― Lao Tzu

What do you guys think this means?

The person who thinks is grandiose in his integrity means he/she has to allways concsiously "check" for integrity; backuped with behaviors. And the person who has pure integrity didn't need to --"show it" (which shows no integrity)--, that's why he has integrity. A suitable seemingly accurate paradox.

when a word is used to define itself, it loops me, like a snake eating itself from the tail.
have principles and stand by them.

someone who is of superior sense of self, does not need to do things to confirm their being, so they appear to have non to the untrained eye, but they do have it.

The person with the inferior sense of self, because he continues to acknowledge this low sense of self, continues to do things to confirm their sense of self so it appears that they have it to the untrained eye, but they do not have it!

There is no try, there is only do.

There is no become, there is only be.

I didn't know what Lao Tzu was talking about until you said that.

My integrity is important to me, in a world where bitchiness, two facedness and lies are rampant as long as I am honest with myself and with others I can sleep easy at night. It seems like what Lao Tzu was saying that since integrity is important to me that means I have none which makes it a generalisation.
